Good morning!  I hope you are well this morning and feeling refreshed.  I am much better than I was yesterday afternoon.  Felt flat out sick!  Not much of anything but a lot of something.  Thank God I am feeling revitalized this morning and ready to take on the day!
I am sitting here studying God's word when again He has inspired me to share something.  It has to do with Exodus 20:16 which states, "You shall not witness falsely against your neighbor."  What do you think when you read this?  At first thought, I simply felt it said we should not testify lies against someone, as in a court of law or a situation where we are attesting to something someone did or did not do.  When in situations as this, we should be honest and forthright in what we state.
As I read some of the reference verses that correlate with this verse, God showed me a deeper meaning.  It pertains to gossip.  Let's look at Exodus 23:1, "You shall not repeat or raise a false report; you shall not join with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness."  WOW!  We shall not 'repeat'.  Is this not exactly what we do when we gossip or share something we have heard about another or about a situation we were not witness to?  We are repeating what another has shared.  How do we know what we are repeating is true?  If not true in the least way, then we are bearing false witness against another.  I do not know about you but this spoke volumes to me.
God spoke to me many years ago about gossiping, and since then, it has become something I am very weary of doing.  I do not even like to be around others when they are gossiping.  He brings such conviction on me, and it penetrates to the deepest core of my being.
We all fall short of the glory of God, and not one of us is without sin.  However, we can daily take a lesson learned and strive to correct it.  Every area of our life we give to Christ, He will glorify us in such awesome ways.  If you are having difficulty with gossiping, give it over to Him today.  Pray each morning for the Holy Spirit to convict you and be guard over your mouth.  Before you know it, you too will abhor gossiping or even being around it.  Protect your ears and do not be guilty of defiling another's ears.  As we allow Him to work this out of us, you (as with I) can move on to other sins in our lives, laying them down at the foot of the Cross, and allowing His Spirit to cleanse us.  I am praying with you today!   It is a daily struggle, but one in which we can overcome because of He who lives in us.
Have a blessed day!
