This morning I shared on Facebook a video I had taped from a year ago. Back then, every video I did or picture I took of me at my desk, you could see that black dress. Well, lo and behold, while listening to my message this morning, a friend of mine got another message and she shared it with me.
As she was watching the video, she happen to notice the black dress hanging in the background. If I know this person as well as I think I do, this is not the first time she has listened to my videos. She has probably watched numerous videos with that same black dress hanging there, but it was not until this morning that God used that black dress to speak to her.
She shared with me that she loved the dress hanging behind me. She went on to basically say that as she was staring at it, God put it on her heart that this is basically how we look before we come to Him. We are pretty … we are good … we are everything the world would want us to be, but we are hollow beings with no life until He gives us life. Until we ask Jesus into our lives, we are empty without Him.
WOW! What a message to be had from a simple black dress, but what a true message. Until I gave my life to Christ, I was that black dress. I looked very pretty and pleasing on the outside, but on the inside I was a hollow shell … void of true love … void of security … void of comfort … void of the ability to forgive .. void of the capability to see beyond myself. I thought I had it all. I thought I knew what it was all about. I thought I was loved. I thought I was secure. I thought I was all those things, but it was the world's version and not God's. The world's version left me dry and hopeless. The world's version led me astray and down many wrong paths. I was never truly filled with love, joy, contentment, security, comfort, and peace until I was filled with His love.
Won't you come to Him today? If you are tired of what the world has to offer, then come eat at His table. You will never look back … you will never hunger again … you will never thirst again. You will be filled with everlasting water.
Ephesians 3:19 And to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.
John 4:14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. … the water I give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
Thank you, my friend, for the reminder of whence I came. It strengthens me to never look back. It encourages me to always look up and know whose got my back.
I was made in His image for His glory.
I am a child of the Most High King.
My Heavenly Father owns the cattle on a 1000 hills. This isn't to show me how much my Father can give to me, but to show me His vast resources so I am filled with faith to know that nothing is impossible for Him.
I am the head and not the tail.
I am blessed going in and coming out.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
My joy is found in Him.
I have His peace … the peace that surpasses human understanding.
Remind yourself of these things each day, and you will find the strength you need to overcome. I recite the above daily going down the road so I am uplifted and ready for the battles ahead. Each day brings trials of its own, and I need all the strength I can get. My strength is realizing who I am in Him.
God bless and have a wonderful day!
